After spending her school days in Singapore and the United States, Keiko worked for Japan Airlines as an International Flight Attendant for seven years, before joining the Department of Home Affairs at the Australian Embassy in Japan.
As a Senior Visa Officer, over the following 16 years, Keiko was responsible for making assessments and decisions on tens of thousands of Visa applications, under a variety of categories, including Visitor, Student, Work, Temporary Residence, and Permanent Residence.
For the last three years of her employment at the Embassy, she was also responsible for strengthening the relationship between the Immigration departments of the Australian and Japanese governments.
Keiko was presented with three awards for innovation during her time at the Australian Embassy.
